September 1998 - Indianapolis Power and Light has issued an open-ended RFP for renewable energy resources of 5,000 kW or less in size to supply its Elect Plan Green Power Program, which is open to all IPL residential and commercial customers with less than 2,000 kW of monthly demand. IPL is currently evaluating small hydro and methane gas resource options from the first round of proposals received. Initially, the green power for the program is being supplied with purchases of geothermal power from Enron at a rate premium of 0.9¢/kWh.
March 1998 - On March 18, Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) reached agreement with several parties to offer its customers three new bill payment options, including a green power option. All residential and some small and mid-sized commercial and industrial customers will be able to sign-up for the green power, which will be supplied by Canadian hydroelectric plants, beginning in June 1998.

February 1998 - Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) and three consumer watchdog organizations reached a settlement on IPL's plan for three new pricing options, including a green power option. IPL will most likely purchase excess Canadian hydroelectric power to supply power for the green option and plans to roll out the new pricing options shortly after commission approval is secured.

September 1997 - Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) recently filed a plan with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission which, if approved, would allow IPL to offer customers the opportunity to try three new pricing options, including the option to purchase green power. The as yet unspecified green power would be sold at a premium and would be available to all residential customers and those customers with demand not exceeding 2,000 kW.
