December 2005 - 3 Phases Energy Services announced the launch of a new service that will allow businesses and institutions to host onsite photovoltaic (PV) systems with no up-front capital requirements and receive a long-term hedge against fossil fuel prices. Under the Daylight Savings program, the solar electric systems will be installed using capital obtained from third-party investors. The solar power will be sold to host customers at a long-term (10 to 20 years) fixed energy rate, usually at or below their current utility rate, and the renewable energy certificates (RECs) sold to other consumers to offset the higher cost of the solar systems. 3 Phases is partnering with Renewable Ventures LLC, a San Francisco-based investment company specializing in green energy projects, which will finance and own the projects.
